On August 2, 2025, four undertrial prisoners accused of rape and offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act escaped from the Korba district jail in Chhattisgarh.
Identified as Dashrath Sidar (19), Chandrashekhar Rathia (20), Raja Kanwar (22), and Sarna Sinku (26), they fled between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. by climbing a cowshed wall inside the prison using a rope. Authorities suspect involvement of an insider after an apparent power cut during the escape and have launched a detailed investigation and manhunt to locate them.
How Did the Jailbreak Happen?
In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns over prison security, four undertrial prisoners, all facing charges related to rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, escaped from the Korba District Jail in Chhattisgarh on August 2, 2025.
According to preliminary reports, the escape occurred between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. The inmates allegedly climbed a wall in the jail’s cowshed area using a rope made of cloth or plastic. Adding to the suspicion, a power outage was reported around the same time, raising concerns about possible internal collusion.

Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
Following the escape, Korba police launched an intensive manhunt across the district and neighboring areas. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and jail staff are under investigation for any negligence or complicity.
According to senior police officers, a special task force has been formed to track down and rearrest the fugitives as soon as possible.
