On Tuesday, Jitendra Singh, the minister of science and technology, unveiled a project that would streamline the application process for students seeking post-doctoral and doctoral fellowships from different government agencies.
Common Fellowship Portal Streamlines Application Process
Singh emphasized the value of the recently established common fellowship portal, which can be found at fellowships.gov.in, as a productive and time-saving resource for entrepreneurs and students alike. This program aims to streamline the application procedure, saving candidates’ time and effort.
Now that applicants have the ability to create their own profiles on the portal, the entire application process can be streamlined by using them to automatically fill out multiple fellowship applications.
“This portal will help all applicants by reducing their time and energy by getting full information and submission of applications at a single place by the click of a mouse,” Singh stated in a report.
Common Fellowship Portal Enhancements
An ‘Eligibility Calculator’ on the portal lets applicants determine their eligibility for different fellowship programs by entering certain information.
Singh underscored the cooperative nature of the endeavor, citing the participation of departments housed within the Ministry of Science and Technology, such as the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Department of Biotechnology.

Plans are also in place to incorporate application forms onto the portal from other departments, including the University Grants Commission, the All India Council for Technical Education, and the Indian Council of Medical Research.
Singh concluded by restating that a large number of applicants from a variety of fields will benefit from the common fellowship portal’s significant advancement in simplifying and expediting the fellowship application process.
