Hyderabad: Revanth Reddy, the chief minister of Telangana, compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a “big brother” and asked for his assistance in advancing the state’s development.
“Prime Minister means a big brother. Only with the help of the big brother can chief ministers of all states take their states forward in terms of progress….” he said.
Revanth said that the state government is not interested in a “duel” with the federal government but rather wants its support to improve the state’s prospects while speaking at an event in Adilabad on Monday, March 4, where the prime minister unveiled several development projects worth Rs 56000 crores.

“We want to be a participant in your (Modi) vision of a 5 trillion economy….We want to take Telangana forward just like Gujarat did,” he said, in a message to PM Modi.
After a long wait, Telangana’s chief minister welcomed PM Modi and sat on the same dais as him during the formal event. Former chief minister and leader of the BRS, K Chandrasekhar Rao, had previously skipped the PM’s official visits to the state on multiple occasions.
Prime Minister Unveils Key Power Projects: Advancements in Telangana
Among other projects, the Prime Minister dedicated NTPC’s 800 MW (Unit-2) Telangana Super Thermal Power Project in Peddapalli at this event. The project, which uses ultra-supercritical technology, will provide 85% of Telangana’s electricity needs and will have the highest power generation efficiency in the nation—roughly 42%—among all NTPC power plants.
The PM also laid the project’s foundation stone earlier.
The 660 MW (Unit-2) North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project in Chatra, Jharkhand, was also dedicated by the PM. This is the first Supercritical Thermal Power Project in the nation designed with an Air Cooled Condenser (ACC) of this size, which uses one-third less water than traditional water-cooled condensers.
