In a dramatic interception near the India-Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended two gold smugglers attempting to transport over ₹1 crore worth of gold concealed ingeniously in their slippers.
The duo was caught during a routine border patrol operation in West Bengal, where BSF jawans noticed suspicious behavior.
The Modus Operandi: Gold Hidden in Slippers
Upon inspection, the personnel discovered cleverly hidden compartments within the soles of the suspects’ footwear, packed with gold biscuits.
Moreover, two mobile devices were also confiscated. The projected market value of the confiscated gold is Rs 1,05,75,187. The two smugglers, recognized as residents of Murshidabad district and working as labourers, were apprehended and transported to BOP Vijaymath for additional interrogation.
