In his initial address to the nation following the terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the armed forces for their actions, stating that every terrorist now “understands the consequences of removing the Sindoor of women”.
Operation Sindoor: India’s New Norm
On Day 3 of the ceasefire following four days of conflict with Pakistan, PM Modi remarked that this Operation Sindoor has established a new norm in India’s fight against terrorism. He added that this would be the approach the nation would take, viewing any future terrorist attack on Indian territory as “an act of war.” “Nuclear threats will be ineffective,” he said.
Operation Sindoor began on May 7 as a response to the dreadful terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 26 individuals were killed following targeted religious profiling by terrorists. A representative of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba took responsibility for the assault, and the investigation uncovered that three Pakistani terrorists were among the five individuals who shot at the tourists.

PM Modi dedicated Operation Sindoor to mothers, sisters, daughter of India
Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister stated this evening, represents an ‘unwavering commitment to justice’. “I dedicate Operation Sindoor to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of this country…” “Operation Sindoor is not just a name; it symbolizes the feelings of the people,” stated PM Modi.
“Terrorists dared to wipe the Sindoor from our sisters’ foreheads. That is the reason India dismantled the core center of terrorism.” PM Modi stated that India has eliminated over 100 terrorists who were at large in Pakistan, reducing their bases to ruins.
He also criticized Pakistan for its backing of terrorism and stated that they have now been taught a lesson as well.

‘Blood and Water can’t flow together’
Describing what he termed the “new normal,” PM Modi stated that India will not make a distinction between terrorists and their supporters. Similarly, he stated that there would be no trade with Pakistan and no discussions unless they pertain to terrorism in Kashmir. “Blood and water cannot flow together,” he noted, in a clear reference to the halt of the Indus Water Treaty.
