Fahad Ahmad, the spouse of actress Swara Bhasker and a leader of SCP (NCP), was defeated in Maharashtra’s Anushakti Nagar constituency by Sana Malik of the NCP led by Ajit Pawar.
Fahad received 45,963 votes while Sana Malik obtained 49,341 votes, resulting in a difference of 3,378 votes and Fahad losing the seat. Fahad left the Samajwadi Party in October to become a member of the NCP (SCP).
Nevertheless, Fahad has requested for a recount, alleging that the BJP tampered with the outcome. Swara Bhasker’s husband stated that he was in the lead in Anushakti Nagar after 17 rounds of counting. He stated that EVMs with 99 percent power indicated Sana Malik in the lead, while those with lower battery level showed her falling behind.
Although she also requested a vote recount, Swara Bhasker stated that she would respect the people’s decision as long as there are no irregularities.

Anushakti Nagar has always been a stronghold for the experienced NCP leader Nawab Malik. Nawab Malik emerged victorious in the Anushakti Nagar constituency in the years 2019, 2014, and 2009. NCP nominated Sana, Nawab Malik’s daughter, for the seat this time. Nawab Malik ran for election from the Mankhurd-Shivajinagar constituency.
Following the Haryana Assembly elections, the Election Commission clarified that the battery level of EVMs has no impact on the vote-counting process or the integrity of the machines, despite Congress’ claim that they were losing on EVMs with a 99% charge but winning on ones with 60-70% battery.
“The display unit of the EVM shows a ’99 per cent’ charge as long as the electric potential of the battery remains between 7.4 volts and 8 volts,” in this range, the EVM operates optimally, without revealing the exact battery percentage, as the voltage is sufficient to sustain continuous operations,” the poll body said.
