BJP takes a ‘sweet jibe’ at Rahul; sends jalebi to his home with ‘Cash on delivery’ as payment mode
While achieving a third consecutive win in Haryana, the BJP made sure to mock the Congress even amidst their celebrations. This time, it was a sweet jibe. Word for word.
The BJP ordered 1 Kg of jalebi from the Bikanervala store in Delhi’s Connaught Place for Rs 609, including taxes. The receiver’s address was 24, Akbar Road, which is the Congress headquarters in the national capital. The Haryana BJP playfully wrote “Jalebi for Rahul Gandhi” in the recipient name.
The payment details were the final twist in the jalebi order. Payment mode for the order was ‘Cash on delivery’.

Jalebi became poll topic after Rahul Gandhi’s comment during a rally
The reason as to why jalebi – a coiled sweet batter fried and soaked in syrup – was chosen was not random.
During the counting day on October 8, as poll results slowly came in and the BJP seemed poised to keep control of Haryana for a third consecutive term, jalebi became popular on social media.
Rahul Gandhi turned jalebi into a poll discussion when he tried it from a nearby store in Guhana, Haryana. He proposed the idea of manufacturing jalebis in a factory on a large scale to ensure they can be distributed widely across India and globally.

But the suggestion did not go down well with the BJP, who trolled the Gandhi scion and said that “jalebi factories do not exist”.
Following their victory in the Haryana election, the BJP made sure to commemorate their significant win. The highlight was the jalebi dessert. Rajasthan Chief Minister and BJP leader Bhajanlal Sharma went an extra mile and attempted to make jalebis himself.
The ‘Jalebi’ Story

During the election campaign, Haryana Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda presented Rahul Gandhi with Maturam’s Jalebi as a gift. The Gandhi family scion found it to be the most delicious jalebi he had ever eaten in his 54 years.
Rahul did not come to a halt at that point. He stated that all people should have access to these jalebis. In order to achieve that, jalebis had to be manufactured in a factory, on a large scale. Afterwards, jalebis turned into a matter of politics.
