RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said efforts are being made to establish a government in Manipur amid ongoing political uncertainty.

November 20: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday stressed the need for a functioning government in Manipur, saying efforts are underway to install one.

During an interaction programme in Imphal, Bhagwat responded to a question on the political situation, stating, “Government and parties, I don’t indulge very much in that, but Manipur must have a government, and to my knowledge, they are trying for it.”

He added, “Destruction takes a matter of minutes, but construction takes years. Throughout these trials and tribulations, efforts have been made to prevent the people of Manipur from being divided on different lines. We will definitely take everybody along. Material peace may come quickly without destroying identities, but internal harmony will require time.”

Earlier in the day, addressing a gathering of dignitaries, Bhagwat said the RSS “continues to be a subject of daily discussion across the country, often shaped by perceptions and propaganda.” He described the Sangh’s work as “unparalleled” and asserted, “There is no organisation comparable to the RSS, just as the sea, sky, and ocean have no equal.”

Bhagwat also praised Manipur’s rich cultural heritage, including the tradition of wearing native attire on special occasions and the use of local languages, urging communities to further strengthen these practices.

On the ongoing situation in the state, he highlighted efforts at both community and societal levels to restore stability. “Destruction takes minutes, but construction requires years, especially when done inclusively and without harming anyone. Peace-building requires patience, collective effort, and social discipline,” he said.

According to local RSS sources, Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to meet more than 50 tribal leaders from the hill districts on November 21, as part of his three-day visit to Manipur. The meeting is expected to centre on the concerns of tribal communities, including social development, cultural preservation, and broader reconciliation efforts.

The RSS chief’s engagements during this visit emphasize dialogue and “Panch Parivartan” — or five-fold transformation — reflecting his organisation’s focus on social harmony, self-reliance, and community rebuilding. His approach appears to prioritise listening over political messaging, seeking to bridge divides amid Manipur’s ongoing ethnic tensions.

Manipur has witnessed intense ethnic clashes since May 2023, primarily between Kuki-Zo communities and Meiteis, resulting in at least 260 deaths and thousands displaced. The state has been under President’s Rule since former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned in February, and the assembly remains suspended.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
