Bets totaling as much as Rs 5,000 crore have been put on the Champions Trophy final, scheduled for Sunday in Dubai, according to sources.

Sources monitoring betting rings have indicated that India is the top choice for international bookies. They claimed that many bookies are associated with the underworld, noting that large bookies from around the globe assemble in Dubai for every major match.

Sources reported that Dawood Ibrahim’s organization ‘D Company’ participates in wagering on major cricket games in Dubai.

Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has arrested at least five major bookies during the Champions Trophy. They wagered on the semi-finals. Their questioning resulted in the investigation extending to Dubai.

In a certain situation, two bookmakers named Parveen Kochhar and Sanjay Kumar were apprehended for wagering on the Champions Trophy semi-final match between India and Australia.

Both were caught in the act while placing live bets with laptops and mobile devices. The authorities retrieved multiple electronic gadgets and items utilized for wagering.

Parveen Kochhar obtained a master ID from a betting site named lucky.com, utilized it to generate betting IDs, and sold them to gamblers. The syndicate imposed a 3 percent fee on each transaction.

For offline wagering, the defendant utilized phone calls and recorded notes in a notepad based on the betting odds.

Sources indicated that Parveen Kochhar has been renting a house for Rs 35,000 each month to operate the betting business for the past two years. He earned a profit of Rs 40,000 each match day. During the interrogation, he claimed that the whole network is managed from Dubai.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
