“A woman can live, fight and progress without a man and show it to the world. You have proved this…Women’s progress holds a great significance in our society and the nation,” says President Droupadi Murmu in her address at an event ‘Asmita’ organized by the Army Wives Welfare Association.
New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday hailed ‘Nari Shakti’ and said women have gauged great heights in various fields ranging from “Missile to Music” by prostrating several odds. She was speaking at an event held by the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.
In the event, an entrepreneur who was married to an army man and a teacher belonging to Jharkhand, who is a ‘Veer Nari’, shared gritty and sorrowful tales of their lives. The ‘Veer Shakti’ while speaking at the event also participated about how they battled every odd with their sheer determination and spirit of adaptability.
President Droupadi Murmu: “I extend my gratefulness to all ‘Veer Naris’ for their contribution and praise the efforts of the AWWA,” the president said. During the event, an entrepreneur married to an army man and a teacher from Jharkhand, who is a ‘Veer Nari’, recited gritty and painful tales of their lives, and how they surmounted the odds with their determination and spirit of adaptability.
“We heard painful stories of two women, we should rather say, two stories of fortitude and determination moment it transferred chills down the chine,” Murmu said. That’s why it is called Nari Shakti, she asserted. There is an old byword that behind every successful man, there is a woman, but, the moment it should be rather said that “beside every successful man, there is a woman”, President Murmu said.

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has emphasized the significance of women’s empowerment for the progress of the country and society. With half of the population being female, President Murmu recognizes the vital role that women play in India’s development journey. She believes that women are capable of living, fighting, and progressing independently, without the need for men, and that their progress is crucial for the betterment of society and the nation.

The President emphasized that the self-esteem of women is integral to the dignity of both society and the nation. She prompted the need to let go of outdated notions and embrace progressive ideas. She also stressed that adopting such ideas can bolster women’s self-confidence and identity.
Present at the program were Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Archana Pande, the President of Army Wives Welfare Association, and the spouse of Vice President Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar.
