Jasprit Bumrah has been named as the ICC men’s Cricketer Of The Year following outstanding performances in 2024. Bumrah had also won the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer Of The Year.
Bumrah became the first Indian fast bowler to receive the Sir Garfield Sobers Award and played a key role in India’s triumph in the domestic Test series versus England and Bangladesh. He also had a crucial impact on his team’s victory in the T20 World Cup.
Bumrah triumphed over strong rivals Travis Head, Joe Root, and Harry Brook to clinch the esteemed Sir Garfield Sobers Award.
Bumrah becomes 5th Indian to receive the honor
The pacer became the 5th Indian to receive the accolade, following Rahul Dravid (2004), Sachin Tendulkar (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016), and Virat Kohli (2017, 2018).
Bumrah additionally claimed the ICC men’s Test Cricketer of the Year award after excelling for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, where he took 32 wickets.

The Indian fast bowler kicked off the year with an impressive display against England at home before shifting his focus to the T20 World Cup.
Bumrah concluded the tournament with 15 wickets and an average of 8.26 as India triumphed over South Africa in the final to claim the trophy. The Indian fast bowler was named the Player of the Tournament for his performance.
Bumrah’s display in Tests truly distinguished him from the other candidates. The pacer took 71 wickets in 13 games, the most by any bowler in 2024.
