An Air India flight (AI‑379) en route from Phuket, Thailand to New Delhi on June 13, 2025, was forced to make an emergency landing in Phuket after crew received an onboard bomb threat. The aircraft, carrying 156 passengers, safely returned to the airport where all aboard were immediately evacuated.

What happened:

Mid-flight, a bomb threat note was found aboard Flight AI‑379, described as a direct warning targeting the aircraft.

The captain promptly aborted the flight and diverted back to Phuket airport, where emergency protocols were activated .

Upon landing, emergency services escorted the plane to an isolated bay. All 156 passengers and crew disembarked safely without injury.

Security Response:

Thai airport security conducted a thorough sweep of the aircraft, examining both cabin and cargo holds.

Local authorities initiated an investigation into the origin and credibility of the threat. As of now, no explosive device has been confirmed, and no individual has been reported in custody.

Passenger Safety & Airline Support:

Bomb threat hoaxes wreak havoc on India's travel industry, days ahead of Diwali festival | CNN

Air India staff ensured passengers were deplaned safely and is offering assistance with rebooking, accommodation, and meals.

The airline emphasized that passenger safety was the top priority, and stated it is cooperating fully with Thai authorities to determine the threat’s legitimacy.

What Happens Next:

Investigators will analyze the note, review communications, and check all security footage.

Depending on findings, charges may be brought under Thai law for issuing a threat or causing a public panic.

Bomb threats on flights have become a global concern in recent years, although many, including several Air India incidents, have proven to be hoaxes. Nevertheless, airlines treat each as a serious security event, activating evacuation, isolation, and bomb-squad inspections by default.

The precautionary emergency landing allowed for swift action and safe evacuation. While authorities continue to investigate, the incident underscores how seriously bomb threats are taken—even when they turn out unfounded.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
