After the Pahalgam attack, there is a lot of anger in the country and voices of exacting revenge are coming from every part of the country. Amidst all the anger, Pakistani Actor Fawad Khan‘s movie ‘Abir Gulaal’ has been the center of the controversy.
There have been calls on social media for banning the movie in response to the tragic attack on innocent tourists. Amid the controversy, the content of the movie is getting removed from everywhere.
Two released songs of movie taken down from YouTube India
Two previously released songs — Khudaya Ishq and Angreji Rangrasiya — no longer feature on YouTube India.
Initially, both tracks were posted on the production house’s official channel and on Saregama’s YouTube channel, the owner of the music rights. Both videos have now been removed from YouTube India.
Another track of the movie, Tain Tain, was also scheduled to be released on Wednesday, as previously stated by the creators. However, thus far, it has not been launched — and the team has also not made any official announcement.
Abir Gulaal won’t release in India, say sources
According to sources from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the movie Abir Gulaal will not be released in India. The film has been refused a release due to the escalating controversy around it.
Prior to this, the movie was already under the hammer as the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), led by Raj Thackeray, had openly threatened to not allow its release. The party had pointed to tense relations between India and Pakistan, claiming that permitting a film with a Pakistani actor to debut in India was not right.
The calls for complete boycott of the film started immediately after the film’s teaser was launched on April 1. The situation intensified following the unfortunate terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
‘Abir Gulaal’, which is directed by Aarti S Bagdi, was set to release in the theatres on May 9. The film also stars Riddhi Dogra, Lisa Haydon, Farida Jalal and Soni Razdan in key roles.
