The spiritual head of Ajmer Dargah, Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan, on Saturday lauded RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent advice against reigniting disputes over religious sites, emphasizing the need for unity to foster national progress.
“RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement is correct. Even in 2022, he stated that we should not look for Shivlings under every mosque. What the RSS chief has said is commendable. If we adopt this approach, we will present a united front to the world, and our country will develop,” Khan remarked, echoing Bhagwat’s call for social harmony.
On December 20, Mohan Bhagwat warned against raising divisive issues, stressing the importance of living harmoniously while acknowledging the cultural significance of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya for Hindus.
His comments follow recent tensions, including clashes over a Jama Masjid survey in Sambhal last month that left four people dead and a Rajasthan court’s acceptance of a Hindu Sena petition concerning the Ajmer Sharif Dargah.
In Mohan Bhagwat’s Words:
“There should be a Ram temple, and it indeed happened. That is a site for the devotion of Hindus. But raking up new issues every day for disdain and enmity should not be done. What is the solution here? We should show the world that we can live in harmony, so we should have a little experiment in our country. We have ideologies of different sects and communities in our country.”
The statement was made during the inauguration of the Hindu Sewa Mahotsav in Pune, where Bhagwat emphasized the need to embrace India’s cultural diversity and seek peaceful coexistence.
Khan’s endorsement of Bhagwat’s message adds weight to calls for mutual respect and understanding among communities, particularly amid rising concerns about disputes over religious sites.
