After Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena’s visit to Rangpuri on December 21, the authorities have swung into action to address the area’s challenges. Desilting, garbage removal, and draining of waterlogged streets began promptly, and repair and maintenance of drains and sewers are now in full swing.

Saxena has directed the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to ensure an adequate water supply to the furthest reaches of these areas. Concerned officials have been instructed to personally monitor and review the progress to ensure timely completion of the works.
On Sunday, Saxena highlighted the dire living conditions in certain parts of the national capital, urging AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi to take immediate corrective measures. Sharing a video of his visits to Rangpuri Pahari in South Delhi and Kapashera in Southwest Delhi, Saxena underscored the residents’ grievances, including frequent power outages and persistent waterlogging in streets and alleys.
“The foul-smelling water stagnating in these areas is not rainwater but overflow from sewers,” he noted, adding that the women voicing their struggles were from Delhi, not any other state.
Assuring the residents of swift action, Saxena committed to overseeing a comprehensive cleanliness drive himself. “I have assured the residents that a cleanliness drive will start immediately, and I will personally monitor the efforts to ensure basic services are restored,” he said.
Saxena also called upon the Delhi government’s leadership, urging them to visit these areas and witness the appalling conditions firsthand. “I appeal to the former chief minister, the current chief minister, and relevant ministers to take immediate steps to improve this pitiable state of affairs. Let’s work together to make Delhi great again,” he added.
