Dheeraj Kumar, a well-known personality in the Indian entertainment industry recognized for his roles as a producer, director, and actor, has passed away at 80. His family stated that he died on Tuesday at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai after struggling with pneumonia and related breathing issues.

Who Was Dheeraj Kumar?

Dheeraj Kumar was more than just a familiar face on screen. Born in 1944, he began his career as an actor in the 1970s, appearing in Bollywood films like Roti Kapda Aur Makaan and Sargam.

Later, he made a name for himself as a television producer and director, contributing to iconic shows such as Om Namah Shivay, Shree Ganesh, and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann.

Dheeraj Kumar was Known for his deep cultural storytelling and devotion to mythological narratives.  At a time when it was sorely needed, he brought spirituality to Indian television. His legacy spans generations and genres.

On July 15, 2025, news broke that he had passed away at the age of 80. Reports suggest pneumonia was a contributing factor, prompting an outpouring of grief — and concern.
