New details have emerged as the Delhi Police persist in their probe into the killing of a 42-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son in the Lajpat Nagar region. A police officer recounted the crime scene, stating, “Blood was everywhere in the house.”
While the inquiries into the Lajpat Nagar double-murder case continue, the police discovered that Mukesh Kumar requested an eight-day leave to travel to his hometown in Bihar for his engagement. He, nevertheless, remained distant for 27 days and continued reaching out to the Sewanis for funds throughout this time.
Mukesh had taken Rs 45,00 from Store Owners and was unable to return
It was also claimed that the accused Mukesh was stressed after taking a loan from his owner and being scolded for poor work performance and frequent absences. Before going on leave, Mukesh had borrowed Rs 45,000 from the store owners.

Another employee, Prem Sagar, at the same garment store informed the police that Mukesh had returned momentarily, requested additional money, and vanished once more, causing concern for the Sewanis.
Additional employees at the store also informed the police that Ruchika and her spouse, Kuldeep Sewani, had recently scolded Mukesh and urged him to act more responsibly.
“Mukesh had taken an eight-day leave to go to his village for his engagement, but he did not come back even after 25 days,” the source stated.
“After he returned a few days back, he requested more money and extra time off again, resulting in a clash with his bosses – Kuldeep and Ruchika,” the source revealed.

How the murder took place?
On that fateful evening, Ruchika Sewani came back home from the store at about 7 pm. Authorities suspect that Mukesh showed up unexpectedly at the Sewani home and rang the doorbell between 7:30 pm and 8 pm. As the woman opened the door, he reportedly assaulted her with a sharp object, cutting her throat.
Her adolescent son, who was in the upper part of the house, is thought to have heard the noise and rushed over. The defendant is also said to have fatally stabbed him in a bathroom within the residence.

At approximately 9:43 am, Kuldeep Sewani called the police to report that his wife and son were not responding to his calls and that there were bloodstains on the stairs of their home.
When a team of police hastened to the location, they discovered Ruchika Sewani’s corpse in the bedroom and her son’s in the bathroom.
Subsequently, technical surveillance was employed to monitor the suspect, who was apprehended on a train at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction. He was trying to escape to his house in Hajipur.
