Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose toured the communal violence-hit Dhulian and Shamsherganj areas of Murshidabad district on Saturday.

“I have seen what has happened here. I have heard your demands and felt the sense of insecurity in your minds. Will do whatever is possible,” said the Governor during a brief stop amid slogans from a crowd demanding ‘Camp chai (We want BSF Camp)’.

“Mein Aap Ke Saath Hun. Aab Se Karwahi Hogi (I am with you. Now action will be taken)… One of the demands is for a permanent BSF camp in the area. I will take up all your demands with the Government of India and the state government,” assured Bose.

At Ghoshpara in Dhulian, people formed a circle around the Governor as he interacted with them through a hand-held loudspeaker. He listened to the people who narrated the events of April 11.

Earlier in the day, the Governor met with family members of Harogobindo Das and Chandan Das, the father and son who were killed during the communal violence in Jafrabad under the Shamshergunj police station on April 11.

“I want to tell them to feel free to call me directly. We have given them direct numbers so that they can call me. They said that ‘we want justice’, and they will get justice. They said, ‘we want peace’, they will get peace. Certainly, we will do everything possible to give them a sense of security. All of their complaints are registered and we are analysing them. We are sympathetic to their demands,” said Bose while speaking to media persons after visiting the family.

“We have lost everything. Yet we live in fear. We have told the Governor about this. He promised all help,” said Parul Das, who lost her husband and son.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
