Outrage Over False Death Reports
The clarification came after false news reports and viral social media posts on Tuesday claimed that the actor had passed away, prompting outrage from his family.
Esha Deol, Dharmendra’s daughter, took to social media to quash the rumours, writing:
“The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery.”
Esha also disabled comments on her post to stop further speculation.
Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife and veteran actress, condemned the misinformation in a strong post on X (formerly Twitter):
“What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and recovering? This is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.”

Health Update and Star Visits
Sunny Deol’s team later issued an update saying, “Dharmendra is responding. Family is hoping for a miracle.” Reports earlier suggested the actor had been on ventilator support since November 10 and was considered critical at one point, but his condition has since stabilised.
Several film industry figures and family members, including Hema Malini, Sunny and Bobby Deol, Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha Patel, visited the veteran actor during his hospital stay.
The He-Man of Bollywood
Widely regarded as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” Dharmendra remains one of Indian cinema’s most beloved icons. His illustrious career spans more than six decades, featuring landmark performances in Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, and Dream Girl.
He was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, and is set to appear in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film Ikkis, slated for release on December 25.
