JP Nadda appointed as Leader of House in the Rajya Sabha

JP Nadda, the BJP’s national president and Union Minister, was chosen Rajya Sabha Leader on Monday. Earlier this month, Nadda took over the Union Health Ministry. In addition, he was assigned to the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.

Nadda will be replacing Piyush Goyal as the Leader of the House.

JP Nadda was slated to stand down from his position as BJP national president, which he took over from the current Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, in 2020, after taking the oath of office.

However, it appears that Nadda will continue to serve as BJP chief.

According to party statutes, a national president is elected only when organization polls are finished in half of all states, which is expected to take about six months.

Who is JP Nadda?

Nadda’s political career rose to prominence in 1975, when he became an activist for the Bihar Movement, popularly known as the JP Movement. Following that, he joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), ran in Patna University’s student Central Association elections, and was elected secretary in 1977.

From 1977 to 1979, he was actively involved in student politics in Ranchi.

He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh in 2012 and joined the BJP’s parliamentary board in 2014, when Amit Shah took over as party head.

He previously served as an MLA in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur assembly three times, from 1993 to 2007.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
