Modi, Biden expected to meet at G7 Summit in Italy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Italy, National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan said Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on his route to Italy for the G7 Summit, Sullivan stated, “He (Biden) expects to see Prime Minister Modi here.” It is up to the Indians to formally confirm his participation, but we anticipate the two of them meeting.”

“The nature of that encounter is still fluid because so much of the schedule is fluid,” he stated.

Sullivan also stated that Biden called PM Modi while they were in Paris to congratulate him on the election results and his swearing-in as Prime Minister for a third term.

Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said that Prime Minister Modi will go to Italy on Thursday, his first abroad trip since taking office for a third consecutive term.

Italy has invited India to join the 50th G7 Summit on June 14th as an Outreach Country.

Modi will meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Kwatra confirmed. However, the specifics of bilateral or encounters with other leaders are still being worked out, he stated.

The G7 consists of the United States, Japan, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, and Britain. The European Union takes part in all debates and is represented by the leaders of the European Council and European Commission.

The host country traditionally invites non-G7 nations as guests to parts of the sessions. Italy has opened its doors and will welcome Pope Francis, Jordan’s King, as well as the leaders of Ukraine, India, Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Algeria, Tunisia, and Mauritania, which now holds the African Union presidency.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
