Delhi Police Summons Telangana Chief Minister in Fake Video Case Involving Amit Shah
As per reports, Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader Revant Reddy has been summoned by the Delhi Police regarding the fake video case involving Union Minister and leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Amit Shah. The request is for the Congress leader to appear with his cell phone on May 1 before Delhi Police’s IFSO unit (Cyber Unit).
In relation to the distribution of a manipulated video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech regarding reservation issues on various social media platforms, the Delhi Police has stated that its special cell has filed a formal complaint. Arrests, according to sources, are probably next.
The Ministry of Home Affairs had stated in the complaint that it had discovered certain videos that had been altered were being shared by Facebook and Twitter users. According to the MHA, the video appears to have been altered to disseminate false information in an attempt to sow discord among communities, which could have an impact on public order and tranquility.

Police Investigation Begins; Facebook and Twitter Receives Notices
Following the complaints, a case was filed by the police under section 66C of the Information Technology (IT) Act and sections 153, 153A, 465, 469, and 171G of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and an investigation was started. In addition, Facebook and the X received notices from the police requesting details on the accounts that uploaded and shared the video.
“The Congress is spreading an edited video which is completely fake and has the potential to cause large-scale violence. Home Minister Amit Shah spoke about removing the unconstitutional reservation given to Muslims, on the basis of religion, after reducing the share of SCs/STs and OBCs,” said BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya.
