January 27, 2026: The NSCN (N. Kitovi–R.M. Lotha faction) on Tuesday announced the suspension of all formal agreements with the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF)–Kamson faction, accusing the group of indulging in arson and endangering the lives of innocent civilians.
In a press statement, the NSCN ( N. Kitovi/RM Lotha ) said it was “shocked to learn” that the ZUF (Kamson faction) had allegedly “resorted to hobnobbing with other Naga groups and indulged in arson, endangering the lives of innocent civilians in villages.”
Calling the alleged acts a serious breach of trust, the statement said such actions were “against the spirit of the merger declaration with GPRN/NSCN on October 26, 2019,” which was signed by former ZUF chairman Raitu Chawang and current chairman S. Kamson. It added that the incidents also violated the “principles of the GPRN/NSCN/ZUF Alliance Modalities signed on October 28, 2019.”

“The ZUF leadership, which has actively participated in the Indo-Naga political negotiations and regularly attended Working Committee meetings of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), has unilaterally indulged in communal and sectarian violence,” the statement said. “Such actions are not in the interest of the Nagas.”
The NSCN ( N. Kitovi/RM Lotha ) leadership expressed concern that the alleged arson and violence undermined ongoing political efforts and posed a direct threat to civilians. “Indulging in violence that targets villages and innocent people is unacceptable and runs contrary to the collective aspirations of the Naga people,” the statement added.
In view of what it described as “grave violations,” the GPRN/NSCN, under the leadership of President Maj. (Retd.) R.M. Lotha and Ato Kilonser N. Kitovi Zhimomi, announced decisive action against the ZUF (Kamson faction).
“Therefore, the GPRN/NSCN suspends all formal agreements with ZUF (Kamson), withdraws their representation, and prohibits their participation in Working Committee and NNPG events,” the statement said, adding that the ban would remain in place “till such time the ZUF leadership takes Naga-centric steps.”
The statement concluded by reiterating that violence against civilians would not be tolerated and warned that actions contrary to agreed political understandings would invite consequences.
The press statement was issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity, GPRN/NSCN, from its designated camp at Khehoyi.
