December 23, 2025: A large protest erupted outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi following the lynching of a Hindu man, Dipu Chandra Das, in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district last week. The demonstration, led by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, condemned what the groups described as rising atrocities against Hindus and vandalism of Hindu religious sites in Bangladesh.
Delhi Police intensified security around the High Commission in anticipation of the protest. Despite heavy deployment, some demonstrators were seen pushing past police barricades in an attempt to move closer to the diplomatic premises. According to reports, protesters managed to breach at least two layers of barricading before being stopped.
Protesters carrying banners and placards raised slogans demanding justice for Dipu Das. “If we don’t raise our voices today, tomorrow all of us will become Dipu,” a protester said.
Security agencies had placed the area on high alert ahead of the demonstration, deploying police and paramilitary personnel and erecting three layers of barricades to prevent any untoward incident.

Dipu Chandra Das, a 25-year-old garment factory worker, was lynched by a mob in Baluka area of Mymensingh on December 19 over alleged blasphemy. His body was later set on fire. Bangladesh authorities have so far arrested at least 12 people in connection with the killing.
Bangladesh Summons Indian Envoy
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh summoned the Indian High Commissioner, expressing concern over incidents targeting its diplomatic establishments in India, including the protest in New Delhi and vandalism at the Bangladesh Visa Centre in Siliguri.
In a statement, Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry condemned what it termed “premeditated violence and intimidation” against its diplomatic missions, warning that such acts threaten the safety of diplomatic personnel and undermine principles of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
The ministry urged India to conduct a thorough investigation, prevent the recurrence of such incidents, and ensure the safety and security of Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions and related facilities across the country.
