November 6: Tension gripped Bihar’s Lakhisarai district on Thursday after a mob of protestors  attacked the convoy of Deputy Chief Minister and BJP candidate Vijay Kumar Sinha, hurling slippers and chanting slogans against him.

Videos from the scene showed a group of protesters shouting “Vijay Sinha Murdabad” as they surrounded the Deputy CM’s car, blocking its movement and demanding that he turn back. Police personnel were seen at the spot, attempting to control the crowd and clear the way for the minister’s convoy.

Sinha accused RJD workers of orchestrating violence and intimidating voters.

“These are the goons of RJD. Satta mein aa rahi hai NDA, isliye inke chhati pe bulldozer chalega. The goons are not letting me visit the village. They turned away my polling agent and did not let him vote,” he told reporters, naming Khoriari village’s booth numbers 404 and 405.

The Deputy CM further claimed that stones and cow dung were hurled at his vehicle.

“I am here at the village. The crowd is coming closer. Send Special Force here. I will sit here in protest. The SP is weak and cowardly—they are not letting the Deputy CM go in,” Sinha said over the phone with the district police chief.

He also accused the RJD of threatening voters early in the day.

“They threatened my polling agent and turned him away at 6:30 am. They are not letting voters come out,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, Lakhisarai SP Ajay Kumar said that the situation was under control and a probe was underway.

“I came here in the morning, everything was peaceful. When he (Vijay Kumar Sinha) arrived, some people opposed him. We are conducting an investigation,” the SP told the media.

An Election Commission official told PTI that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had directed the Bihar DGP to take immediate action in connection with the attack.

The RJD has denied any involvement in the incident, calling Sinha’s allegations politically motivated.

Elsewhere, as polling continued across the state, educator Khan Sir urged young voters to participate responsibly.

“People should vote keeping in mind their candidate and the issues of education, development, healthcare, employment, safety and security. A vote is a very powerful thing,” he said after casting his ballot.

The incident in Lakhisarai has underscored the charged atmosphere surrounding the high-stakes Bihar Assembly elections, where both the NDA and the RJD-led alliance are battling fiercely for control of the state.
