Delhi Police revealed that the survivor’s father, Akil, forced his daughter to procure the acid and stage the attack, intending to falsely implicate Jitender, against whom his wife had filed a rape complaint.

New Delhi, October 27, 2025 — In a startling development, the father of a 20-year-old Delhi University student who was grievously injured in an acid attack has confessed to orchestrating the assault himself to frame another man, police sources said Monday. The investigation has taken a dramatic turn, revealing a disturbing web of deceit, revenge, and manipulation.
According to police, the father, identified as Akil, admitted during questioning that he had planned the attack to falsely implicate Jitender, the main accused, against whom his wife had reportedly filed a rape complaint. Investigators said Akil confessed that he sought to “teach Jitender a lesson” by framing him for the brutal acid assault on his own daughter.
Sources further revealed that the survivor herself was allegedly made to procure the acid, commonly used for cleaning toilets, without fully understanding her father’s intentions. The substance was then used in the staged attack, which has now been confirmed as premeditated.

The Incident
The attack occurred around 10 a.m. on Sunday near Lakshmibai College, a women’s college in north Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area. Initial reports stated that Jitender, along with his associates Ishan and Arman, rode up on a motorcycle and threw acid at the young woman before fleeing the scene.
Police received a distress call from Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, where the injured student had been admitted with burns on both hands. The victim, a second-year DU non-collegiate student from Mukundpur, initially told officers that Jitender had been stalking her and had confronted her a month earlier.
The Confession and Investigation
As investigators dug deeper, inconsistencies in the survivor’s statement and forensic evidence led them to question Akil. Under sustained interrogation, he confessed to having planned the attack himself. He told police that tensions with Jitender and his two aides, Ishan and Arman, had escalated over personal disputes and a pending legal case involving his wife.
Akil allegedly manipulated the situation to frame Jitender, instructing his daughter to carry out the act while making it appear as if the accused men were behind it. “He wanted revenge and to settle scores,” a senior police officer said. “The confession has completely changed the direction of the probe.”
Police have registered a case under Sections 302 (attempt to murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and other relevant provisions of the IPC. Three individuals, including Akil, are currently under custody.

Wider Reaction
The revelation has triggered outrage across the capital, with women’s rights activists and student organisations demanding stricter control over the sale of acid and stronger mechanisms to verify motives in such cases.
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) condemned the episode, stating, “This incident highlights not just a moral collapse but a policing failure. Authorities must ensure women’s safety while also scrutinising false framing that undermines genuine victims.”
CCTV footage of Jitender in an underground parking lot in Karol Bagh earlier that morning and the recovery of his motorcycle had initially strengthened the case against him. However, with Akil’s confession, the entire narrative has unraveled, exposing the complexities of manipulation and vengeance in the name of justice.
