Calling it an attack on democracy, Rahul warns more “hydrogen bomb” evidence is coming that will directly implicate PM Modi.

New Delhi, September 18, 2025 – Congress leader and Lok Sabha Opposition chief Rahul Gandhi on Thursday intensified his “vote chori” charge against the Election Commission and the BJP, presenting what he described as proof of systematic deletions and manipulations in electoral rolls. He said his promised :”hydrogen bomb” will come soon, and that will implicate Prime Minister Narendra Modi, too,
Without naming the Supreme Court, Gandhi said he expected “other institutions” to step in to protect the Constitution. “My task is to participate in democracy, not to protect it. That duty lies with other institutions. What can I do if they are not discharging their responsibilities?” he remarked.
Addressing a press conference at Indira Bhawan, Gandhi directly accused Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar of shielding those behind what he called a “Vote Chori Factory.” He alleged that voter names were being struck off rolls through software manipulation, fake applications, and targeted disenfranchisement of backward classes and minorities.
Citing the Commission’s own records, Gandhi highlighted the deletion of 6,000 names in Karnataka’s Aland constituency and the addition of over 6,000 votes in Maharashtra’s Rajura seat. “This has happened all over India. It is an attack on our Constitution and your rights,” he said, urging the media to verify the discrepancies independently.
He further accused the ECI of blocking investigations by Karnataka CID, noting that the agency had written 18 letters over two years seeking data but received no response. “Even the Karnataka Election Commissioner’s repeated letters went unanswered. This is clear proof that Gyanesh Kumar was protecting the vote chors,” Gandhi charged.

Declaring that he holds the CEC personally responsible, Gandhi warned: “Vote chori karne wale yaad rakhen – hum aapko pakdenge aur kadi karrawai hogi” (Those committing vote theft, remember – we will catch you and strict action will follow). He added that today’s disclosure was not the promised “hydrogen bomb” but said more explosive evidence was being compiled.

On the Commission’s refusal to act, Gandhi said: “There are other institutions in the country which should take notice. We have provided all the evidence. What more could we do?” He demanded that Gyanesh Kumar hand over documents sought by Karnataka CID, warning that otherwise India’s youth would be convinced that the ECI was complicit in a plot to “murder democracy and the Constitution.”
Rahul also disclosed that he was getting information from within the election commission of India. “Yes, we are getting help from people within the ECI. Everyone knows that a crime has been committed, and now they are helping us to nab these criminals,” he said.
Today’s revelations build on Gandhi’s earlier Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, where he first promised “explosive” disclosures on voter fraud. Former CEC S.Y. Quraishi has also called for an independent probe, calling the Commission’s defense “objectionable and offensive.”
The controversy has further sharpened political divisions. Opposition parties, including Congress, RJD, and TMC, accuse the poll body of rushing the Bihar roll revision to benefit the BJP, while critics say Kumar’s remarks resemble those of a BJP spokesperson.
The press conference, livestreamed on YouTube, drew significant media attention as Bihar gears up for Assembly elections. As of this report, the ECI has not issued a response to Gandhi’s latest disclosures.
