Coolie Maintains Lead
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie opened with an impressive Rs. 65 crore nett across all languages on Day 1, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film saw a drop on Day 2 but still brought in Rs. 53.50 crore nett, taking its total domestic earnings to Rs. 118.50 crore nett in just two days.
Rajinikanth plays a former labour union leader seeking revenge for his friend’s murder. The film also boasts a star-studded ensemble, including Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Pooja Hegde, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj.

War 2 Closes the Gap
On the other side, War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, had a modest start with Rs. 51.5 crore nett on Day 1. However, the action-packed sequel gained momentum on Day 2, collecting Rs. 56.5 crore nett, pushing its two-day domestic total to Rs. 108 crore nett.
The film stars Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as RAW agent Major Kabir Dhaliwal, alongside Kiara Advani and Jr NTR. As the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War (starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff), expectations are sky-high for its long-term performance.
While Coolie currently leads the box office race, the narrowing gap between the two films suggests a fierce contest in the days ahead. With strong fan bases, high-octane action, and massive star power backing both releases, the coming weekend will be crucial in determining which film emerges as the ultimate box office winner.
