August 13, 2025 – A devastating road accident in Rajasthan’s Dausa district claimed 11 lives — including seven children and four women — and left eight others injured in the early hours of Wednesday.

The crash occurred around 4–5 a.m. when a pickup van carrying 20 passengers rammed into a stationary truck on the Manoharpur highway, according to PTI, citing local police.

Dausa Superintendent of Police (SP) Sagar said the victims were residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district, returning home after a pilgrimage to the revered Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji temples in Rajasthan.

The ill-fated pickup, traveling on the highway’s service lane, slammed into a parked truck, causing catastrophic damage. Seven of the 11 deceased have been identified as Poorvi (3), Daksh (12), Seema (25), Priyanka (25), Anshu (26), Saurabh (28), and Sheela (35).

Rajasthan: In Dausa, 11 devotees lost their lives while returning from a visit to Khatu Shyam Ji. Among the deceased were 7 children and 4 women.

Nearly half the passengers on board died in the collision, while one of the eight injured is in critical condition. The wounded were rushed to nearby hospitals.

SP Sagar noted that the pre-dawn timing likely meant low visibility, though the exact cause is still under investigation. Authorities are examining driver fatigue, road conditions, and vehicle safety as possible factors.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed deep sorrow, calling the incident “extremely tragic” in a post on X. He said the district administration has been instructed to ensure prompt medical care for the injured.

“May God grant a place at His divine feet to the departed souls and provide speedy recovery to the injured,” Sharma wrote.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also conveyed condolences, joining other leaders in mourning the loss and urging stronger road safety measures.

The district administration and police are working to assist victims’ families and coordinate with relatives in Etah for the identification and transportation of the bodies. The critically injured passenger remains under close observation.

Authorities have stressed the dangers posed by stationary vehicles on service lanes and vowed a thorough probe to prevent future tragedies.

The accident highlights the urgent need for stricter enforcement of road safety norms, especially for vehicles carrying large groups. The loss of so many young lives has shocked the community, turning the focus to both accountability and prevention.
