August 3 — Four individuals, including three women, have been arrested in connection with separate drug smuggling operations in Manipur’s Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts. Authorities recovered a large cache of narcotics and cash during the coordinated crackdown.
Acting on intelligence inputs, combined security forces from the state and central agencies carried out raids on Saturday in two locations in Kangpokpi district. Three suspects were apprehended under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Act, 2023.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:

Ms. Lhingneichong (42), a resident of Kangpokpi Ward No. 9

Ms. Rebecca Haokip from Gamgiphai village

Paotinkai Khongsai from Saikho village, Saikul
During the operation, authorities seized:

2.61 kg of brown sugar
-
2.88 kg of opium
-
140 grams of ganja
-
Rs. 23,110 in cash
-
14 mobile phones suspected to have been used in coordinating smuggling activities
On 01.08.2025, security forces conducted operation at two different locations in Kangpokpi district and arrested 03 (three) individuals under the NDPS Act:

In a separate raid in Churachandpur, police arrested Ms. Chiinlunniang (39) of Vaal Veng village. She was caught with 2.4 kg of WY tablets concealed in two packets and was reportedly using a Bolero Pickup truck (registration no. MZ 01X 3200) to transport the contraband.

According to the police, the combined value of the seized narcotics is estimated to be around Rs. 45 crore in the international market.
All four accused are facing charges under the provisions of the NDPS (Amendment) Act, 2023. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the wider network behind these smuggling operations.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to combating drug trafficking in the state and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.
