Anshul Kamboj, the 24‑year‑old right‑arm medium‑fast bowling all‑rounder from Karnal, Haryana, has just been added to India’s Test squad touring England as injury cover.

Here’s a detailed look at the promising young cricketer:

Who is Anshul Kamboj?

Born on December 6, 2000, in Karnal, Haryana, he is a tall pacer (1.89 m) with batting capabilities. Anshul has been impressive with his performances in domestic circuit.

Anshul Kamboj plays for Haryana in domestic cricket since 2021 and he has taken 79 wickets in 24 first-class matches with an impressive average (~22‑23), including a historic 10-wicket haul in a Ranji Trophy innings. In limited-overs cricket, he secured 17 wickets in the 2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy, contributing to Haryana’s title win.

What Anshul Brings to the Table?

  • Seam, bounce & aggression: His height (6’2″) and ability to swing and extract bounce make him well-suited to England’s green pitches. His upright seam position allows him to move the ball both ways, making him effective with the new ball in England and South Africa-like conditions.
  • Recent form: In addition to domestic heroics (e.g., 10-for Ranji), he’s in rhythm from recent India A outings in England
  • Pace and Control: He consistently clocks 135-138 km/h, with the ability to push to 140 km/h in spells. Unlike many young pacers, he combines pace with tight control on line, making him hard to score off during defensive phases.
  • Batting Ability: A handy lower-order batter, Kamboj has multiple 30+ and a fifty in domestic cricket. His clean hitting ability against spinners and ability to occupy the crease can contribute valuable runs at No. 8 or No. 9 in Tests.

Conclusion

Anshul Kamboj is a promising young fast bowler, bolstered by strong domestic and India A performances. He joins India’s squad in Manchester on July 20, 2025 as injury reinforcement, with the potential to make his Test debut in challenging English conditions.

His aggressive yet controlled approach aligns with India’s modern fast-bowling ethos. Provides a fresh, injury-free option amid India’s current injury-hit pace department.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
