A woman in Indore claimed that her husband from Begusarai, Bihar forced her to consume beef and convert her faith post-marriage. The couple met on Facebook and tied the knot five years back.

The woman, Aarti Kumari, went to the Begusarai police to ask for assistance in returning to her hometown. Aarti said she encountered Mohammad Shahbaz via Facebook.

The couple had met on Facebook

“Following years of friendship, I traveled to Begusarai and married him,” Aarti stated. She claimed that Shahbaz forced her into eating beef and changing her religion. “He deleted images of Hindu gods from my phone and assaulted me when I refused.”

Aarti stated that her husband physically assaulted her when she declined to meet his demands. She claimed that Shehbaz introduced himself as a gold and silver dealer, but in reality, he merely crafted garlands in a store.

The woman alleged that Shehbaz continuously abused her and indicated that he no longer wanted her. She went to the Superintendent of Police and was directed to the women’s police station.

Interestingly, Aarti chose not to file an FIR against her husband and instead made a written appeal to return to Indore. Authorities later performed a medical assessment.

Husband refuted the allegations

In response to the allegations, Shahbaz rejected the charges and stated that Aarti had been married before and has three kids. “She has had a surgery and is no longer able to have children. She has relations with other men and has fled from home three times over the past five years,” Shahbaz stated.

“Why would I ask someone who can’t even read to eat beef or read the Quran?” he continued. Shahbaz has additionally asked the district administration to relieve him of Aarti, labeling the allegations baseless.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
