India’s quest for an equaliser in the five-match Test series appears promising as the visitors concluded day three of the second Test match in a strong position. With Shubman Gill’s exceptional 269 runs and Mohammed Siraj’s remarkable six-wicket haul, India has taken control at Edgbaston up to this point.
Following England’s successful chase of 371 runs in the fourth innings at Headingley, India aims to set a target exceeding 450 runs in their second innings.
Michael Vaughan anticipates the visitors will triumph in the Edgbaston Test, tying the series at 1-1, setting the stage for the eagerly awaited third Test at Lord’s. He expressed his views in an Interaction with Cricbuzz.

India’s Massive Comeback on Day 3
On the Day 3 of Edgbaston Test, Team India looked out of ideas at one stage when Harry Brook and Jamie Smith were going all guns blazing. The pair had threatened to minimise India’s advantage as they built together a massive partnership for the sixth wicket. From 84/5 at one stage, England raced to 387/5 in no time.

However, as the new ball came, pacers Mohd Siraj and Akash Deep ran through the lower order handing India a crucial lead of 180 runs in the first innings.
The Day 3 ended with some fine strokeplay by Indian batters with India scoring 64/1 at the stumps. KL Rahul and Karun Nair are at the crease and will look to build on the lead.
