India’s squad for the remaining three Tests against England will soon be announced, but the latest reports suggest that Virat Kohli is set to miss the third and fourth matches as well. Kohli was unavailable for the first two games for “personal reasons” and is now even doubtful for the fifth game.

The former Indian captain reportedly conveyed his decision to skip the third and fourth Tests to Rohit Sharma and the selectors. However, given the series’ anticipated competitiveness, the selectors might delay announcing the squad for the fifth Test until Kohli’s final decision is known. The absence of Kohli, one of India’s key batsmen and a significant presence on the field, would be a notable setback for the team.

So, no #ViratKohli for the Rajkot Test, as ESPNCricinfo. 😶‍🌫️

Now, should IND keep just one pace option and let Sundar walk in to beef up the batting depth? Or you expect more than 2 changes in the playing X1 for the third Test? 🤔#INDvsENGTest #INDvsENG https://t.co/kbH5cv83K6

Selection Meeting to Determine Squad

The BCCI senior men’s selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, will convene in the next few days to announce India’s squad. Captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid are expected to attend the meeting. However, Kohli’s availability remains a key question mark. The scheduled meeting is set days before the third Test match of the 5-match series at Rajkot.

The selection process won’t be straightforward, considering numerous factors, including Kohli’s availability and the need for strategic adjustments in the squad composition. The absence of a key player like Kohli raises questions about India’s batting lineup and the team’s overall strategy against a formidable English side.

Rahul and Jadeja Expected to Return

Good news for India as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, who missed the second Test due to injuries, are likely to be included in the squad for the following two Tests. Both players are recovering well and are optimistic about their return, boosting the team.

The potential return of Rahul and Jadeja would bolster India’s batting and bowling departments, providing much-needed depth and balance to the team. Their presence would strengthen the playing XI and provide additional options for the team management regarding strategy and composition.

Bumrah to Feature, Shami Still Unavailable

Contrary to speculations, Jasprit Bumrah is set to feature in the upcoming Tests against England. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami is unlikely to play any part in the series as he continues to recover from an ankle injury sustained during the ODI World Cup.

Bumrah’s 9-wicket haul in the second Test at Vizag helped him claim the top spot in the Test rankings. However, India’s management would have a selection headache about keeping the second pace option in playing X1 or including another spin-allrounder in the mix.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
