Jasbir Singh, a YouTuber from Rupnagar who runs the “Jaan Mahal” channel with over 1.1 million subscribers, has been arrested by Punjab Police’s State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali, on charges of being a key part of a terror-backed espionage network with ties to Pakistan Intelligence Operative (PIO) Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa. The arrest is a significant development in the ongoing crackdown on anti-national elements.
Jasbir Singh is also found to have maintained close connections with recently arrested YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani High Commission Official previously expelled from India.

DGP of Punjab Police, Gaurav Yadav, confirmed the arrest in a post on platform X, stating, “Acting swiftly on actionable intelligence, State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali has unearthed a critical espionage network linked to Jasbir Singh, a resident of Village Mahlan, #Rupnagar.”

Details of Jasbir Singh’s Activities
Police investigations reveal that Jasbir Singh visited Pakistan three times (in 2020, 2021, and 2024). His electronic devices contain contact numbers from multiple Pakistan-based individuals. Furthermore, he attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi upon Danish’s invitation, where he reportedly met with other Pakistani officials and bloggers.
The DGP’s post also highlighted, “After Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Jasbir attempted to erase all traces of his communications with these PIOs to avoid detection. An FIR has been registered at SSOC, #Mohali.” His phone is currently undergoing forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Broader Crackdown and Ongoing Investigations
This arrest is part of a series of actions taken by the government following the Pahlgam attack, indicating a significant crackdown on terror networks and related activities. Along with Jyoti Malhotra, eleven other individuals have been arrested for espionage activities.

Jyoti Malhotra was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days on May 26, with her first hearing scheduled for June 9. Hisar police, however, have stated that they have not yet managed to find any incriminating evidence suggesting Jyoti had access to military or defense-related information.
Investigations are actively underway to dismantle the broader espionage-terror network and identify all collaborators. “@PunjabPoliceInd reaffirms its unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security and neutralizing all threats posed by such anti-national elements,” the Punjab Police stated.
