Shubman Gill proved his doubters wrong by playing a steely century, his third in Test cricket, on Sunday. Gill flourished under immense pressure.

On the third day of the second Test match between India and England in Visakhapatnam, the 24-year-old saved his country by scoring a century, which greatly boosted his self-esteem and helped him block out criticism concerning his position in the team.

Shubman Gill helped India take the lead on Day 3 by reaching his century in 132 balls. In the second session, the hosts’ lead surpassed 300. Gill acknowledged the young man’s remarkable character under duress and offered a subdued celebration, despite the Indian dressing room being on their feet.

After Yashasvi Jaiswal joined Rohit Sharma as his opening partner, Gill wanted to move up to the No. 3 position, but the young batsman found it difficult to make the adjustment from the opening position to the vital position in the top order.

When Gill outside-edged James Anderson, pushing at a delivery beyond the off-stump in the opening innings of the Vizag Test, it appeared as though his days as a Test cricket player were ended. Gill had gone 12 innings without a fifty at the No. 3 post.

However, Shubman Gill showcased incredible grit and determination as he survived two close LBW calls and overcame a scratchy start to hit his second Test hundred at home.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
