Jasprit Bumrah tore through the England batting lineup as he took 5 wickets, his 10th 5-wicket haul in the longest format, in the second day of the second Test on Saturday.

To put India firmly in control, the speedster who reached his 150th wicket in the same innings scalped Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, and Tom Hartley.

The last seamer to dismiss opposition’s no. 3, 4, 5 and 6 in an innings in a Test in India before Jasprit Bumrah this innings was Kapil Dev during his spell of 9/83 against West Indies in Ahmedabad in 1983.

He took 6781 balls to get to his 150 wickets which is the fastest by any Indian bowler and puts him above the likes of Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Resuming at an overnight 336 for six, India added 60 runs to their total before getting all out in 112 overs with little over 30 minutes left for lunch. As was the case on day one, India had to rely on Jaiswal (209 off 290) to get the majority of the runs. No other Indian batter even crossed 40.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
