A civil defense mock drill is set to occur on Thursday, May 29, in the Indian states neighboring Pakistan—Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jammu, and Kashmir. The Civil Defence Directorate has released directives regarding this, as reported by Hindustan Times.

As per the HT report, the Haryana government is set to conduct a major civil defence exercise across the state, named “Operation Shield,” planned for May 29. This extensive exercise will take place in all 22 districts starting at 5 pm, intending to strengthen the state’s emergency readiness and response capabilities.

This civil defense mock exercise occurs weeks after India initiated ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan during the night of May 6 and 7, as a response to the Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists on April 22.

This progression follows weeks after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) executed Operation Abhyas — a countrywide simulation — on May 7, mere hours before India initiated Operation Sindoor.

India had conducted nationwide mock drill on May 7

On May 7, India carried out a countrywide civil defence simulation organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs, called “Operation Abhyas,” which sought to enhance the country’s readiness for war-like crises in light of increased tensions with Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror incident.

This extensive drill involved 244 identified civil defence districts in various states and union territories, featuring significant metropolitan regions like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
