Neel Acharya, an Indian student studying at Purdue University in Indiana state of the US, has been confirmed dead, officials said on Tuesday.

Acharya, a double major at Purdue University’s John Martinson Honors College in computer science and data science, was reported missing on social media on Sunday.

The Exponent reported that interim director of computer science Chris Clifton notified teachers and students of Acharya’s passing via email on Monday to the university’s computer science department.

“It is with great sadness that I inform you that one of our students, Neel Acharya, has passed away,” The Exponent quoted Clifton as saying.

“My condolences go out to his friends, family, and all affected,” it added.

Later, speaking to The Exponent, Clifton said that he received an email from the Office of the Dean of Students confirming Acharya’s death.

“A deceased person was found that matched Neel’s description and had Neel’s ID on (him),” he said.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
