On Saturday, Pakistan claimed that it has successfully conducted a test of a surface-to-surface ballistic missile with a range of 450 kilometers. The missile referred to as the Abdali Weapon System was fired during Exercise INDUS, according to Islamabad.
India considers any missile test as a provocation
Pakistan’s missile test occurs amid escalating tensions with India following the Pahalgam terrorist strike. Sources stated that India considers any missile test by the neighboring country to be a serious provocation.
As per the Pakistani government, the objective of the launch was to guarantee the troops’ operational preparedness and to verify crucial technical aspects, such as the missile’s sophisticated navigation system and improved maneuverability attributes and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with other military leaders has conveyed full confidence in the operational preparedness and technical expertise of the forces to protect the country’s national security.
Attempts have been made by Pak to provoke India previously
Pakistan has been attempting to provoke India through frequent ceasefire breaches along the Line of Control, which divides the Pakistan-held Kashmir from the International Border of both nations. India had responded successfully to all such efforts.
In addition, inflammatory remarks and belligerent actions by Pakistani officials have persisted since the Pahalgam attack.
Pakistan’s Information Minister Ataullah Tara asserted that India intended to launch an attack within 36 hours. It has been over 72 hours since then. On April 29, the minister of defense stated, “If something has to happen, it will occur in 2-3 days.”
Pahalgam attack links to Pakistan emerged
At least 26 civilians, comprising a Nepalese tourist and a local pony guide, were killed by terrorists in the picturesque Baisaran meadow in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. A militant group associated with Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Taiba has asserted responsibility for the assault.
As connections of terror to Pakistan surfaced following the attack, India terminated the Indus Waters Treaty and revoked all visas for Pakistani citizens. Residents of India were assigned a deadline to exit Indian territory. This also encompassed those medical visas.
In reaction, Pakistan warned it would halt all bilateral agreements with India, which encompasses the Simla agreement. The two nations have also reduced diplomatic relations following the horrific assault.
