Throughout the morning, there has been a continuous flow of visitors who have been arriving at the Mishra residence on Baghmundi Road, ward number 5 of Jhalda town in Purulia. They have all gathered under sorrowful circumstances – to extend their sympathies to their now retired headmaster, Mangalesh Mishra, whose son Manish Ranjan, an intelligence bureau officer, was one of 26 victims of the fatal terrorist assault in Pahalgam on Tuesday.

The Hyderabad-based Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer was killed in Pahalgam terror attack that shook the entire country on Tuesday while his wife and children witnessed the incident. The IB officer was shot dead while spending time on holiday with his family.

Manish was working under Union Home Ministry in Hyderabad

Manish, employed in Hyderabad with the Union Home Ministry, was in Jammu and Kashmir for a visit to the Vaishno Devi Temple and was scheduled to travel there from Kashmir when the assault took place. The eldest of three sons of Mangalesh, who was the headmaster of Jhalda Hindi High School and hails from Rohtas in Bihar, Manish was set to be joined by the rest of the family prepared to join him.

“He was one of the three victims from West Bengal. We got the news on Tuesday afternoon. They were heading to the Vaishno Devi temple from Kashmir… We had also started our trip, excited to meet them, but had to turn back due to this tragic news,” his brother Vineet shared with the media.

The remains of all three victims are anticipated to be transported back to the state by 8:30 pm, Chief Minister Manata Banerjee stated on Wednesday.

“As per latest updated information made available to us, 3 persons from our State have died in the most unfortunate Kashmir violence. All arrangements are being put up by our administration at Delhi Airport to help the family members of the victims and their onward journey to Kolkata. Flight is likely to arrive Kolkata at 8.30 pm today,” she said in a post on X.

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy expresses condolences

Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy voiced his shock regarding the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir and has firmly denounced the atrocious act. “Such cowardly attacks cannot undermine the spirit and determination of the Indian people,” CM Reddy stated.

He also called on the Union government to implement the harshest measures against the terror groups involved in the attack. The Chief Minister offered prayers for the souls of those who passed away and expressed his sincere sympathy to the victims’ families.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
