Sources reported that the Army eliminated 4-5 infiltrators in response to retaliatory fire after the Pakistan army breached the ceasefire agreement by intruding into Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday. The Army confirmed that the infiltration effort in the Krishna Ghati region of Poonch district was successfully thwarted.

On Tuesday, Pakistani troops and infiltrators opened fire, leading to a response from the Indian Army. Sources indicated that the Pakistani side experienced significant losses.

This marks the first instance in recent months where the Army has acknowledged the ceasefire breach by Pakistan. Comparable cross-firing events were documented in the Krishna Ghati sector earlier in February of this year.

The Indian Army reported that there were no casualties or property damage on its part. The firing occurred sporadically throughout the day, and the Indian Army is still completely stationed in the Krishna Ghati region.

“On April 1, a mine blast occurred in Krishna Ghati sector due to Pakistan Army intrusion across LoC. This was followed by unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation by the Pakistan army. Our troops responded effectively in a controlled and calibrated manner. The situation is under control and being closely monitored,” a defence spokesperson said.

In the last two months, there has been a significant rise in cross-border firing events along the LoC in the southern Pir Panjal area, including reports of sniping, firing, and attempts by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT). Insiders in the Indian Army suggest that these events are being managed promptly and efficiently at the local level, as Pakistan persists in breaching the ceasefire accord.

As per Army officials, Pakistani troops and terrorists have attempted several unsuccessful intrusions in the Krishna Ghati region of Jammu and Kashmir, incurring significant losses in the process. In the initial week of February, Pakistani forces began firing small arms and set off explosives along the LoC, leading to a vigorous counter-action from the Indian Army. Although India has brought up the matter with Pakistan, cross-border issues continue to occur.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
