Union Home Minister Amit Shah condemned the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) administration in Tamil Nadu for its translation of medical and engineering courses into Tamil, charging the governing party with the absence of courage to execute such initiatives.

Commenting on the debate over language in Parliament, the Home Minister stated, “You (DMK) lack the courage to translate medical and engineering subjects into Tamil.”

He also claimed that when his party assumes power, they will guarantee the translation of these courses into Tamil. “When we establish the government, we will convert medical and engineering courses into Tamil,” he stated.

He further charged the DMK with distracting the public and claimed that the DMK’s hesitation to address this issue arose from a desire to hide corruption. “You’re doing this to conceal your corruption,” he noted.

Addressing the wider conversation about language, the Home Minister additionally stated that Hindi was not in competition with any other language. “He expressed that Hindi does not rival any national language,” reiterating that Hindi promotes linguistic unity. “Hindi serves as a companion to every Indian language,” he continued, emphasizing that Hindi assumes a supportive role instead of a dominant one.

He also disclosed that starting in December, he would begin official communication in regional languages. “Post-December, I will have communication with citizens, Chief Ministers, Ministers, and Members of Parliament in their native language. This is a powerful response to those who operate their businesses under the guise of language to conceal their corruption,” he commented.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
