Exciting News for SUV enthusiasts in India! Ford is gearing up to reintroduce its acclaimed premium SUV, the Endeavour, to the Indian market. Recent reports indicate that the company has filed a design patent for the upcoming version of the Endeavour in the country.
The Endeavour made its debut in the Indian market back in 2003 as a premium offering from Ford. Despite its enduring popularity, the company decided to discontinue it after 18 years due to overall performance challenges leading to financial losses, despite a robust product portfolio. Interestingly, American manufacturers have historically struggled to capture the imagination of Indian customers, a factor that has influenced the automotive landscape in the country.
The new Ford Everest globally comes with a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, which is accompanied by the tried and tested 2-litre Bi-Turbo diesel engine. A 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission is available depending on the engine. In some markets, the SUV is also available with a 2WD arrangement.
The new Endeavour has a more masculine design language than the previous model. It has C-shaped daytime running lights, LED headlights, a large grille, and a tough bumper. The SUV’s tailgate is radically different in the back. It sports a lower profile and a separate set of LED tail lights.
Next-Gen Ford Endeavour:
Signs point to Ford considering the production of the Endeavour at its Chennai plant. This move follows the company’s decision to abandon its previous intention to sell the factory to the JSW (Jindal South West) Group. Additionally, there are discussions about the potential importation of the initial SUV batches as Completely Built Units (CBUs) while the assembly line is being established. If all unfolds as planned, the Endeavour could make its return to the Indian market as early as 2025
New Ford Endeavour: Design, Technology and Safety
Built on ladder-frame architecture (the same as the Ford Ranger pickup’s platform), the Endeavour will share a few design elements with the former SUV. The leaked Endeavour design patent suggests that the vehicle will boast a sturdy front end showcasing LED headlights and unique C-shaped LED DRLs. Inside, it is expected to provide a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster.
Furthermore, safety will be a priority, with advanced features like Lane Keep Assist, Pre-Collision Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Hand-Free Parking, and Intersection Assist among others.
All in all, the Endeavour will be a perfect blend of style, technology, and safety to deliver a well-rounded driving experience.
New Ford Endeavour: Exterior design highlights
Coming to the new Ford Endeavour, it continues to sit on the Ranger pickup’s platform, which means it still gets the ladder-frame architecture. It also shares quite a few design elements, body panels and power trains with the Ranger. It gets a boxier front end with a large grille that features a horizontal bar in the middle, extending beyond the grille to the new Matrix LED headlights with C-shaped daytime running lights. The new SUV definitely has a more squared-off design, with a more upright rear-end that features new inverted L-shaped LED tail-lights that extend on to the more upright tailgate; the lights are connected by a black plastic panel.
New Ford Endeavour: Interior Design
Featuring a revamped three-row cabin, the interior showcases a contemporary dashboard design, prominently centered around a portrait-oriented 12-inch touch screen (or 10.1 inches on lower trims). This touch screen integrates Ford’s latest SYNC infotainment software. Complementing this, an impressive 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster (or 8.0 inches on entry-level trims) enhances the overall modernity of the vehicle’s interior.
New Ford Endeavour: Price and Rivals
Well, before the Ford Endeavour got discontinued, it was priced between Rs. 30 – Rs. 36.27 Lakh with 4 Trims – Titanium 4×2, Titanium+ 4×2, Titanium+ 4×4, and Sport Edition. However, the new Endeavour could be priced between Rs. 35 Lakhs – Rs. 42 Lakhs for the 4 new trims – Trend 4×2, Limited 4×2, Sport 4×2, Titanium+ 4×2, and Titanium+ 4×4.
Don’t expect the new Ford Endevoer to come cheap though, as we assume that the vehicle will be priced closer to Rs 60 lakh. The new Endeavour is expected to launch in the early 2025, and upon its launch it’ll compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and MG Gloster.
Although the company has not officially verified the specifics, media reports strongly suggest a potential launch and specifications unveiling of the new generation Ford Endeavour in India by 2025. Car enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the official announcement of the launch date as excitement continues to build in anticipation
