On Wednesday, India firmly criticized Pakistan during the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) meeting in Geneva, rejecting its claims of undermining democracy and breaching human rights in Jammu and Kashmir as “without foundation and harmful.”

The Indian representative criticized the neighboring nation, stating that Pakistan is burdened with human rights violations and is unqualified to admonish others, as its “speech is filled with hypocrisy.”

“India is exercising its right of reply in response to the baseless and malicious references made by Pakistan. It is regrettable to see Pakistan’s so-called leaders and delegates continuing to dutifully spread falsehoods handed down by its military terrorist complex,” diplomat Kshitij Tyagi said.

Speaking at the forum earlier, Pakistan’s Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar asserted that there was a “persistent denial of the right to self-determination for people” in Kashmir, in “contravention of UN charters, resolutions, and international law.” He further asserted that violations of human rights are occurring in the area and need to be halted.

India responded to the accusations by highlighting the advancements and growth in the area, while also reaffirming its sovereignty over Kashmir.

“The union territories of J&K and Ladakh will forever be an essential and inseparable component of India.” The remarkable political, social, and economic advancements in J&K over recent years are self-evident. These achievements reflect the public’s confidence in the government’s dedication to restore normalcy to an area affected by years of terrorism backed by Pakistan,” Tyagi stated.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
