At least seven individuals are believed to be trapped following the collapse of a part of the under-construction Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel close to Domalapenta in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district on Saturday morning.

The authorities reported that roughly three meters of the tunnel’s ceiling caved in close to the Srisailam reservoir as workers were performing their regular duties. They stated that the tunnel work commenced just four days ago.

“A segment of the SLBC tunnel located behind the Srisailam dam close to Domalapenta encountered a collapse on Saturday. Specifically, at the 14th kilometer mark, the ceiling of the left tunnel caved in by three meters. This occurred while employees were carrying out their responsibilities at the location,” stated Vaibhav Gaikwad, Superintendent of Police, Nagarkurnool.

He mentioned that two rescue teams from the firm managing the irrigation project had gone into the tunnel to assess the situation.

“We don’t possess exact specifics at this time.” The site is approximately 14 km within the tunnel, and we will only grasp the complete scope of the situation after the rescue teams come back,” he was quoted by Indian Express.

An official stated that 50 workers were present at the site during the incident, with approximately 43 having emerged unharmed, and noted that police were informed of the collapse at about 10 a.m.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy voiced his astonishment regarding the incident, verifying that multiple individuals were hurt in the collapse. However, he did not give any particular figure.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
