The recently elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs in Delhi are set to gather at 7 pm on Wednesday to choose the legislative party leader, who will be sworn in as the chief minister on February 20.
Sources indicate that the party aims to select the next CM from a cohort of recently elected MLAs and is also contemplating a female MLA for the position.
The swearing-in ceremony for taking will occur at Ramlila Maidan on a large scale, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and various other prominent leaders in attendance. BJP officials Tarun Chugh and Vinod Tawde are managing the preparations for the oath-taking ceremony.
The BJP is hosting approximately 30,000 attendees for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Delhi chief minister at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday.
Prominent RSS leaders and spiritual Dharm Gurus will be present at the oath-taking ceremony. Business leaders and famous personalities, together with Laddli Bahanas and Delhi farmers, are expected to participate in the event.
Rekha Gupta, the elected BJP MLA from Shalimar Bagh, is regarded as a significant candidate for the position of chief minister of Delhi.
Rekha Gupta defeated AAP’s Bandana Kumari by 29,595 votes in the recently held assembly election. She was previously the general secretary and president of the Delhi University Students Union, a member of the party’s national executive, and serves as the general secretary of the Delhi state unit.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) condemned the BJP for postponing the selection of the next chief minister, asserting that the saffron party was unable to select an MLA to govern Delhi.
Senior AAP figure Gopal Rai indicated that the capital might see three distinct CMs in the next five years, similar to what occurred during the previous BJP administration.
