Two security personnel lost their lives and two others were injured in an encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Sunday. During the encounter, security forces killed 12 Naxalites.
A senior police official told PTI that one of the two security personnel murdered was from the state police’s District Reserve Guard, while the other was from the Special Task Force.
The encounter occurred in a jungle in the Indravati National Park area this morning as a joint team of people from various security forces was conducting an anti-Naxalite operation.
“According to preliminary information, 12 Naxalites were killed in the gunfight. The bodies of all of them were retrieved. We are attempting to identify them,” stated the senior police officer.

LARGE CACHE OF WEAPONS SEIZED
A substantial cache of guns and explosive materials was also seized at the encounter location.
The injured security guards are believed to be safe and are being transferred to a higher medical facility for further treatment. Additional forces have been despatched as reinforcements, and a search operation is underway in the vicinity.
