In connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged Islamic State terror conspiracy, teams from the National Investigation Agency raided 41 locations in Maharashtra and Karnataka on Saturday, detaining up to 15 persons.
Pune-based individuals who were detained were linked to the Islamic State.
The information provided indicated that raids were taking place in several places in Karnataka and Pune, Thane Rural, Thane City, and Mira Bhayandar in Maharashtra.
According to NIA sources, they have discovered a more extensive plot with global ties and the participation of foreign-based ISIS controllers in the current investigation.
The investigation has unveiled a complex network of individuals committed to propagating the extremist ideology of ISIS within India.
They said this network was involved in the creation of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and had taken an oath of allegiance (Bayath) to the self-proclaimed Khalifa (leader) of ISIS.
They said that the network planned to commit acts of terrorism within Indian territory.
