Under the leadership of Delhi LG V.K. Saxena, Narela sub-city is set to undergo a remarkable transformation. From deploying ex-servicemen for round-the-clock security in housing societies to establishing police posts in vacant flats, bold steps are being taken to ensure safety.

BY PC Bureau

Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) V.K. Saxena reviewed the security and civic infrastructure in Narela sub-city and issued directives aimed at preventing crime, curbing illegal encroachments, and improving amenities. The measures, designed to create a safer and more livable environment for both housing societies and industries, include the following:

Security Enhancements

  1. Deployment of Ex-Servicemen: Nearly 500 ex-servicemen will be stationed in shifts to provide round-the-clock security for DDA housing societies. Deployment will be completed within 15 days to bolster police efforts.
  2. Increased Police Visibility: Dedicated PCR vans will conduct regular night patrols to enhance police presence.
  3. Establishment of Police Beats: Vacant DDA flats will be allocated for setting up police posts to increase accessibility and deter criminal activities.
  4. Targeting Repeat Offenders: Delhi Police will initiate a drive to identify and monitor habitual offenders in the area.

Civic Infrastructure Improvements

  1. Dark Spot Elimination: DDA, in coordination with local police, will identify and illuminate dark stretches prone to crime.
  2. Enhanced Street Lighting and CCTV: Streetlights and CCTV cameras will be installed at elevated heights and secured within protective wire meshes to prevent vandalism.
  3. Reinforced Housing Boundaries: Boundary walls of housing societies will be raised and reinforced with barbed wire fencing to deter unauthorized entry.

Civic Services

  1. Road Repairs and Garbage Disposal: MCD has been instructed to complete road repairs and garbage clearance in a mission-mode approach to improve overall infrastructure.

Redevelopment Vision for Narela

The measures are part of LG Saxena’s broader redevelopment plan for Narela sub-city, which aims to transform it into a hub for education and sports. To address unsold DDA flats, discounted pricing strategies have been introduced to attract buyers. Concurrently, the LG is prioritizing the development of the Narela industrial area and adjacent zones like Bawana and Bhorgarh to attract new industries and boost economic growth.

Resident Concerns and Law Enforcement Initiatives

The LG acknowledged numerous representations from residents highlighting persistent law-and-order issues, including street crimes and thefts. In response, the DCP presented concerns about limited police infrastructure in the area. Saxena directed the DDA to expedite the provision of vacant flats for police use and emphasized the urgent need for enhanced visible policing.

These proactive measures, when implemented, are expected to significantly improve the safety, security, and quality of life for Narela’s residents and industrial stakeholders.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
